Job description

We are on the search for an enthusiastic, passionate, and dynamic individual to join us at Sonas Hotel Collection as General Manager at Skeabost House Hotel. 


As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of the hotel you lead. You will work closely with the central support teams, your Operations Manager and your Head of Departments to ensure the smooth running of the day to day operations, to ensure complete guest satisfaction at all times, and to ensure the commercial and financial viability of the hotel.


Given the remote location of this role, we do offer staff accommodation for those who require it – rates to be discussed during the interview process. Our newly refurbished staff accommodation also includes staff meals. The Isle of Skye offers a unique change of pace and this role is ideal for those who want a change of scene and the opportunity to enjoy and explore some of Scotland’s most idyllic landscapes. A snapshot of your key responsibilities: 

  • Delivery of an exceptional experience to all guests and employees of the business.

  • Sharing local knowledge and information with all guests of the business.

  • Ensuring adherence to all current legislation including but not limited to Health & Safety and Food Safety.

  • Ensuring guest satisfaction in all areas of the business, and resolution / escalation of any guest concerns or complaints.

  • Processing of payments in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Promote a positive people culture through effective communication.

  • Provide inspirational leadership.

  • Initial and ongoing training of all junior managers and team members to ensure sufficient

  • Management and accountability of the hotel’s P&L.

  • Overall management of property maintenance.

  • Control of business costs working to ensure budgeted and forecasted targets are met.

  • To champion Company wide initiatives.

  • Ensure optimum productivity and performance across the hotel.

  • Recruitment and retention of top talent.


Key requirements for this role: 


  • Previous experience in a similar role.

  • A passion for hospitality and a drive to grow and develop yourself and those around you.  

  • Fantastic communication skills.
